The Kapchorwa deputy RDC Martin Sakajja has revealed that 119 youths from Kapchorwa district and Kapchorwa Municipality have been admitted to Sebei Presidential Industrial Hub in Chepsikunya, Soi County in Kween district for the free skilling programs to start tomorrow, Thursday 22nd August, 2024.
In a letter dated 17th August, 2024 addressed to all zonal chairpersons for presidential industrial hubs, the state house comptroller; Raymond Kamugisha Akankwasa said that the selected lists that were sent by the district Hub committees were reviewed and confirmed with a few adjustments.
Part of the letter reads “the 4th Intake is scheduled to commence on Thursday 22nd August, 2024. All selected candidates are expected to report on that day from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Failure to report within one week will lead to cancellation of the offer and the vacancy will be given to another person “
According to Sakkajja, 17 beneficiaries are under tailoring, 18 for welding, 16 for hairdressing, 17 for bakery, 14 for leather design, 19 for building and construction and 18 for carpentry with all programs taking 6 months free of charge. The requirements include personal clothing, 2 bars of Soap, 10 rolls to toilet paper, a mosquito net, a bucket/basin and jerrycan for personal use and hygiene, a pair of sports shoes (if affordable), a pair of sandals and a water bottle.
The Hub has further been asked to assist the selected youths with means of reaching the hub. So far this is the 4th Intake at the Sebei industrial zonal hub aimed at dealing with unemployment among the youth as one of the initiatives from the Government of Uganda’s wealth creation programs.
