PRODUCTION: The District / Municipal Veterinary staff led by DPMO Mr Felix sabila has started mobilising and vaccinating cattle in abide to wipe out anthrax out break in Kapchorwa.
In the past one month, anthrax has killed a number of animals. Humans have also succumbed to the deadly anthrax with no death reported.
Anthrax is a highly contagious disease that is transmitted from animals to humans through physical contact( skin), inhaling or eating dead animal carcasses.
The exercise has started from west division, Kapchorwa Municipality. The veterinary team is targeting all susceptible livestock species.
The exercise will run throughout the week, and each farmer will incur a cost of Ug shs3000 per vaccination.
