The Masters of Ceremonies (MCs) and Panelists Association from the Elgon region have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for recognizing and supporting their work. This comes after the government extended financial support to their association, signaling an inclusive approach that leaves no group behind in the national development agenda.
The meeting, convened on short notice at Noah’s Ark Hotel brought together representatives from across the Elgon sub-region. Mr. Chelimo Alex Wilfred the association’s secretary welcomed members and commended them for their commitment despite the short notice.
Speaking at the gathering, Mr. Sakajja Martin the Deputy RDC Kapchorwa District and Regional Coordinator for MCs and Panelists highlighted that this gesture by the government marks a significant milestone.

“MCs and panelists have often been left out of such initiatives. This support shows that the government truly intends to leave no one behind in its development efforts,” he said.
Sakajja also acknowledged the efforts of the Deputy Press Secretary to H.E. the President who championed the inclusion of this category of professionals in the government’s empowerment programs. He further extended appreciation to Haji Faruk Kirunda the Special Presidential Assistant for Press & Mobilization and Deputy Spokesperson for advocating for MCs and panelists at the national level.
He clarified that the funds extended to the association were loans and not donations emphasizing that beneficiaries would access them strictly for development purposes after signing clear loan agreements. Training sessions had already been conducted for the association’s leaders to ensure proper loan management and accountability.
Mr. Silas Chemos Mark Chairperson of the association, confirmed that the funds had already been deposited into the association’s account. He noted that the Bugisu and Sebei teams had been merged under one umbrella for the Elgon region with the Bugisu team represented at the meeting.

‘So far, 230 members have joined the Elgon SACCO and disbursement will prioritize members with viable projects that align with the association’s objectives.’ he added
Mr. Emma Bwayo Chairperson for Bugisu MCs and Panelists expressed his appreciation to the Sebei counterparts and the entire membership for welcoming them warmly “We are grateful to the Sebei team for receiving us with both hands. We are now ready to move together in unity and strengthen our association for the good of all members,” he said

As the meeting concluded, participants commended the government for recognizing the contribution of MCs and panelists in community mobilization, communication, and entertainment. The association pledged transparency and accountability in managing the funds to ensure sustainable growth for all members.
